Our goods are made by local growers, processors and artisans from Northern and Central California.

They start with wool from a variety of sheep breeds – Corriedale, Jacob, Ouessant, to name a few.  After growing wool while managing vegetation and fertilizing the soil, the sheep are shorn, and their wool is washed, felted, carded, spun, woven, and knit into beautiful, natural products.

We are located in beautiful Point Reyes Station, California, in the Cow Girl Barn. Come for an outing that celebrates local food, fiber and flowers.

  • First Fridays Art Walk Pt. Reyes Station

    Friday, October 4, 5-7pm 

    The Wool Shed and the Cowgirl Barn, along with other galleries and stores in Point Reyes Station, will be open from 5-7pm to welcome visitors to this last First Friday Art Walk of the year. The Cowgirl Barn will be featuring the artwork of Michael Bonnet, cheesemonger at The West Marin Culture Shop.  Organized by Gallery Route One in Pt.     Join Bonnie Reardon, artisan knitter, to learn how to repair your treasured wool sweaters. Bonnie is an expert knitter who makes the beautiful socks for sale at the Wool Shed. She will share her tips and techniques for keeping your wool goods in great condition for years to come. Bring along a handknit item that needs repair.  Repair kit included. Max 10 students. Age 15+.   • Spinning a Yarn - Telling the Story of How Wool Becomes Wearable

    Friday, October 18, 11am-1pm

    Come find out how yarn was made in pre-industrial times.  What are the many steps in the process of turning a sheep’s fleece into a human garment?  Special guests and hands-on activities. Age 12+. Cost $25.

  • Felt a Pumpkin with Denise Marshall

    Friday, October 25, 11am-3pm

    This sweet little pumpkin will add an adorable autumn touch to your fall décor. The finished gourd size will be approximately 4x4 inches. During class you will learn how to create a tendril or two as well as a leaf cut from wool! A real pumpkin stem will be provided. There will be an abundance of colors to choose from. Whimsy is the word for these little lovelies, so be sure to bring your own creative ideas along! This is a beginner friendly class with no prior needle felting experience necessary. All materials included. Max 10 students. Age 12+. Cost $150.

  • Beginning Knitting with Gayle Ravenscroft

    Friday, November 1, 11am-1pm      

    Join this casual, no pressure, beginning knitting circle. The goal is to introduce – or reintroduce – you to the basics of knitting. We want to start you on a path that meets your own goals at your own pace. Gayle will introduce the moves of both the throwing or the picking branches of the knitting tree and leave it to you to decide which of those is the most comfortable in your hands. Perhaps you already have a latent method long forgotten? We can review how you can bring that forward – all in a kind and supportive environment. Beginner kit included. Max 10 students. Age 15+. Cost $75.

  • Knitting with Local Yarns with Gayle Ravenscroft

    Friday, November 8, 11am-1pm          

    The question is not “Why should we knit with Farm Yarns?” but rather “Why would we NOT?” Farm Yarns were the fundamental foundation of all the knitting traditions on this planet. They represent the beginning of all the beauty in the craft of knitting. They present us with an array of artisanal energy and diversity that is simply not possible in a commercial situation. So, adding the knowledge of how and when to include them in your projects will lead you towards a deeper sense of fulfillment in your own making. Come and explore some of the ways you can make a farm yarn shine in your knitting. Max 10 students.  Age 12+. Cost $75.

  • Soap Felting with Nancy Rosenthal

    Friday, November 15, 1pm-4pm 

    Explore the art of transforming locally sourced wool into felted soaps, wrapping and wet felting Nancy’s artisanal soap with a rainbow array of hand dyed wool to create unique and functional works of art. You will leave the class with 2 completed felted soaps – one for you and one for a friend. Space is limited to 10. Perfect for beginners ages 12+. All materials included. Cost $100.

  • Drop in Adult/Child Fiber Craft

    Saturday, November 22, 11am-4pm                     

    Drop in and pick out a craft kit and learn a new fiber craft with your young person (age 5+) or on your own. All are welcome. There will be helpers to get you started.  Max students 10 per hour.
